'Time' Moon Landing Anniversary Issue Features Jimmy Dean Cover Ad, VR App

the sponsor of Time’s new augmented reality and virtual reality app, which launched this week to coincide with the publisher’s efforts around the moon-landing anniversary.

Called “Time Immersive,” the app showcases new AR and VR projects from Time.

According to the New York Post, previous Time owner Time Inc. rarely

ran ads on the cover of the magazine — though brands like Pfizer Canada and Verizon Wireless have sponsored ads and cover wraps in the magazine in the past.

of Time’s June 2018 special issue “The Drone,” according to the NYP.

Time Inc. was sold to Meredith in 2018, and Time was bought by billionaire tech

exec Marc Benioff and his wife Lynne at the end of last year.

Dean” on the front cover flap. Inside is a blurb about the Time Immersive app and its first activation, Landing on the Moon. It also calls out Jimmy Dean’s 50 years of sausage-making.

“Landing on the Moon” allows viewers to experience “a scientifically and

historically accurate cinematic recreation” of the Apollo 11 landing in 3D, from a user’s table top, according to Time.

partnership with the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and research by Industrial Light and Magic CCO John Knoll.
